Stryker Hip Implants
The law firm of Alley, Clark & Greiwe represents a large number of clients who have been injured by defective metal-on-metal hip replacement devices sold by various manufacturers. A proposed Stryker Settlement Agreement has just been announced that will compensate eligible U.S. patients who were forced to undergo revision surgery to replace their recalled Stryker Rejuvenate Hip System. The deadline to register for the settlement expires on December 14, 2014. Even if you are not presently having problems with your Stryker hip implant, you must register by December 14, 2014, or you will not be allowed to participate.
Under the terms of the settlement program, Stryker will provide a base payment of $300,000 to patients who received the Rejuvenate or ABG II hip systems and underwent revision surgery before November 3, 2014, due to a failure of the recalled hip device. The base award is subject to certain deductions based upon a claimant’s age at the time of the initial surgery as well as other factors. Claimants may also be awarded additional compensation separately from the base payment if they suffered from specific complications during or after revision surgery.
We are still accepting clients who have been implanted with the recalled Stryker hip implant as well as other metal-on-metal hip replacement implants. Please contact Tampa defective medical advice attorneys C. Todd Alley, Jim Clark, Don Greiwe, or Katherine Chambers for more information.
Background on Stryker Recall
Stryker Orthopaedics voluntarily recalled its Rejuvenate and ABG II modular neck hip implant stems on July 4, 2012. This voluntary recall was initiated due to widespread problems including high implant failure rates, pain, swelling, and tissue damage in patients with these metal-on-metal modular neck stems. According to Stryker, the risks include the potential for "fretting" and/or corrosion around the modular-neck junction which may result in adverse local tissue reactions.
Settlement Enrollment Deadline Expires on December 14, 2014
